LimitState software features in ICE Journal Paper

A paper which uses LimitState's masonry arch bridge software, LimitState:RING, and geotechnical software, LimitState:GEO, to gain new insights into the behaviour of soil-filled masonry arch bridges has been published in the September 2012 issue of the Institution of Civil Engineers' Bridge Engineering Journal.

The paper describes a series of specially devised laboratory experiments on small-scale soil-filled masonry arch bridges which allow the beneficial effects of live load spreading and passive restraint to be decoupled. Experimental results are then compared with numerical limit analysis results, obtained using LimitState:RING and LimitState:GEO. Good agreement between experimental and numerical results is observed.
