LimitState are pleased to announce the release of LimitState:RING 3.1a. This release includes a number of developments that significantly enhance both the solve speed and memory efficiency of the software.

Improvements to the solve procedure mean that problems involving multiple load cases now, on average, solve approximately 70% faster than in previous versions of the software.

Additionally, we have significantly reduced the memory footprint of the software so that problems with a much larger number of load cases can be solved without running out of memory. For example, in the case of a bridge containing 10 spans (created using the new bridge wizard with default parameters) and carrying a 10 axle highway vehicle, around 800 load cases can now be analysed using the 32bit version of the software - approximately four times as many load cases as using previous versions. Also, for customers needing to solve even larger problems, a 64bit version is now available.
