LimitState director contributes to new book on geotechnical design codes

In the recently published textbook 'Modern Geotechnical Design Codes of Practice: Implementation, Application and Development', LimitState Director Dr Colin Smith illustrates how ultimate limit state design can be carried out using Computational Limit Analysis (CLA) methods.

The article summarises recent work placing CLA within a rigorous theoretical framework that can be used in the context of modern limit state design codes such as Eurocode 7 and how a CLA approach may be applied to a range of problems. Various foundation and retaining wall examples are considered within the context of Eurocode 7.
